Second Life-Experience the virtual world by becoming a part of Second Life

Linden Lab developed a world that is virtual on 23 June, 2003. It is called Second Life. One can gain access to this world with the help of the Internet. There is a program for clients called Second Life Viewer. This program is free of cost. It allows the users who are called Residents to communicate with each other with the help of avatars. The Residents can meet other users, take part in social gatherings, participate in individual or group activities and make and trade property as well as services that are virtual. They could even travel and explore the world. People who are 18 years of age or above can be a part of Second Life. People in the age range of 13 to 17 can participate in Teen Second Life.

Residents can build objects that are virtual with the help of a software that is a tool of three-dimensional models. This tool is based on simple shapes of geometry. If combined with the language of Linden scripting. The feature of functionality could be added to the objects. Three-dimensional “sculpties” i.e. the sculpted prims, textures for clothes or other items, animations as well as gestures are all created using a special software.

The terms of service for Second Life helped the users to retain the rights for content of their creation. The client as well as the server provides simple functions for the management of digital rights. The Residents of the virtual world found the new Viewer 2 Beta easier to use and intuitive for a wider consumer audience. It has features like integrated media based on the web, navigation that is easy and like a browser, a side panel in order to access features that are used frequently, improved search as well as contextual help. It comes with various crucial bug fixes as well as some improvements for user experience. White color has been used again for building grids as it is more noticeable. The “Events Details” function has returned. The “Inspect Object” has been introduced again. If the mouse is over the inventory panels it will not scroll automatically. The position of floaters of the camera as well as movement control will remain across sessions.

Second Life allows one to express creativity online. The buildings, clothing, landscaping are all works of art. You could design and create an architectural marvel or share your poems live on the microphone with people all over the world. The content of Second Life is created by the users. All the residents have the same opportunities but they have very diverse imaginations. It is a platform that allows users to be artistic as well as musical when it comes to their vision. It helps people to analyze, visualize, generalize and develop business plans and put them into practice in the virtual world without having to risk their real money. Second Life gives people a chance to live out their dreams.
